Dining Services chefs from several campus facilities participated in the Rutgers cooking competition held in January 2010. First place went to Peter Imranyi of our club, second place went to our Lauren Stevenson, third place went to Jeffrey Fisher, formerly of the club, and our Jeremey Pierson was fourth. “Our chefs really work to improve on their craft all the time,” commented a proud Club Manager, Ray Martin.
Peter Imranyi followed his campus victory with a first place win at the Regional competition of the National Association of College and University Food Services held in Princeton. That qualified him for the national contest held in July at San Jose, CA. where he placed second. His dish was “Portabella mushroom-crème fraiche gnocchi with poached lobster served with pickled fennel, Swiss chard, tomato concasse and a Madeira scented mushroom consommé.” We’ll hear and see how it was done under the tutelage of our chefs at the Chef’s Showcase.
